Educational Field Days Expanding in 2025

Blackwater Beekeeper Association (BBA) has a focus of educating the benefits of beekeeping for enjoyment and the environment to the public.
A major part of the success of beekeeping experience is also educating local beekeepers in the science and art of beekeeping.
We offer classroom education through member meetings and special certification programs. Those activities give beekeepers a sense of what is needed to successfully manage honeybee colonies. As important as that is...the reality of beekeeping is found in doing it. Remember one can study in a classroom how to drive a car but it is different and takes practice to get behind the wheel of a car and enter a highway.
This coming year, 2025, BBA will be expanding the already successful program of field days. Field days are opportunities for member beekeepers to visit a member apiary and do hands on activities with colonies under the supervision of experienced beekeepers. New beekeepers get a chance to apply what they learned in class, ask questions, and hone the skills necessary to be a successful beekeeper. There is no charge to any BBA member and any BBA member can participate.
The new field day schedule along with focused topics will be posted in January 2025
